1 Broiler basics
A turbo broiler (otherwise known as a multifunctional convection oven) is a portable oven with a round stainless or heat-resistant glass body and a heat source located at the top of the device.
2 How it works
It has an internal fan mounted on the lid that circulates hot air. This ensures that the same temperature reaches the top and bottom of the food, thus cooking and browning food more evenly. Since heat is transferred more efficiently, it takes less time to cook, translating to savings on electricity too.
3 Cookin' since the 70s
In the 70s and 80s, the turbo broiler was a big hit among local households because it offered a healthier, oil-free cooking technique.
